Rural Pennies certificate

The Rural Pennies section of the Red Cross Agriculture Fund provided parcels of food and clothing for servicemen in POW camps. These were paid for with pennies donated by people living in towns and villages throughout Britain.

This certificate was awarded to a Mrs Maxwell, “whose untiring efforts contributed so much towards raising the magnificent sum which made it possible for the Joint War Organisation of the Red Cross & St. John to carry out its great humanitarian work for our sick and wounded and our Prisoners of War.”
