When a POW was employed as a farm labourer – as many were – a time sheet such as this one had to be completed. It is divided into four parts, of which one was filled in by the farmer and two were filled in by the camp labour office. The remaining part was completed by the Gang Leader (we would probably say Team Leader today) and was written in both English and German.
The time sheet bears no date but is most likely to be post-war. POWs continued to be detained long after the cessation of hostilities. Indeed some never returned, choosing instead to adopt Britain as their new home after being released.
