Lucas Masklite

The Masklite is a simple device intended to make cycle headlamps comply with wartime blackout regulations. It fitted between the front glass of the headlamp and the reflector, so a certain amount of dexterity was required. However it was a lot easier than making your own mask or resorting to a tin of black paint.

Not only was the Masklite quite easy to fit, it was quick to remove, restoring the headlamp to its full performance. It is made of thin plated metal and was supplied in a brown paper packet.
